Teeth Whitening FAQs

Will Teeth Whitening Results Last Forever?

To be honest, No. Teeth Whitening can last up to 1 to 4 years depending on your Oral Health routines, Brushing your teeth after every meal and avoiding drinks and foods that are dyed, can help you keep your Teeth Whitening procedure last longer.

Is Sensitivity Normal?

Yes. Teeth Whitening can cause minor sensitivity during and after the procedure. The products used for whitening contain peroxide, which is used to strip the enamel. When the enamel is stripped of the stains, the teeth are more vulnerable, which can cause temporary sensitivity to hot or cold food or drinks.

How Often Can Teeth Whitening Be Done?

We recommend the procedure be done every five to six months, depending on the patient’s situation. Overdoing it can cause long-lasting sensitivity, as well as unhealthy teeth.

A major benefit of Whitening your Teeth with a professional Dentist is that you will significantly reduce the risk of any damage to tooth enamel and gums.

Will I Feel Pain While Having My Teeth Whitened?

Teeth whitening does not cause any pain. However, after your Whitening, you may experience some sensitivity for 1-2 days after teeth whitening.

How Long Will I Need To Wait Before I Can Eat Or Drink?

You can eat or drink 4-6 hours after your procedure, and avoid foods that stain the teeth.

You can eat/drink light-colored foods like

  • Skinless chicken or turkey
  • Mashed potatoes
  • White rice
  • Low-fat milk
  • Plain water from the tap (Has beneficial fluoride)

Within 24-28 hours, you should be able to return to a regular diet, but remember that certain food and drinks can stain your whitened teeth again.
